Halfway through 2026, our industry continues to navigate a familiar mix of highs and lows. Our focus as a Board is to build on the wins where we see them,  concentrating our energy on the opportunities, challenges and competitive conditions that are within our control to influence.

Our inaugural Beyond North Industry Vision Summit earlier this year,  brought sector experts and cross-industry voices together to chart a near-term program of work grounded in shared priorities. At the same time, Screen BC has been an active contributor to the BC Government’s Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport (TACS) Ministry's consultations on a forthcoming Provincial Film Strategy. Together, these efforts underpin a fresh movement to elevate BC's competitive position on the world stage—one built on industry input that is practical, data-driven, and future-focused.

How we continue to succeed will be measured by our ability to build on BC's advantages and attract investment where it is needed, while competing against jurisdictions around the world that are aggressively implementing their own strategies to build a production ecosystem that matches ours. There is no room for complacency in a market this dynamic.

Screen BC will continue to collaborate closely with government on the Provincial Film Strategy while also driving an industry-led strategy of our own— one focused on building a stronger, more diversified, and more resilient production sector in BC.  I look forward to working with this group of industry leaders who have stepped up to the Board alongside our members, and our government and industry partners to turn our strengths into momentum and lasting progress for the people who power this industry.
