Equity and Inclusion

Screen BC’s Equity & Inclusion Committee was established in early 2019 to help guide meaningful forward movement for change in BC’s production industry, based on the three pillars of education, engagement and advocacy, and guided by a mandate to:

  • Consult and draw from the experiences of equity−seeking groups and diverse communities to help identify and articulate the challenges of entering and succeeding in the industry.

  • Recommend policy and initiatives to Screen BC .

  • Participate with Creative BC and other industry stakeholders in the development of programs that improve pathways and reduce barriers into the production industry.

  • Support and profile Creative Pathways for equal and inclusive access to the motion picture industry workforce.

Screen BC is additionally a supporter of Collective Bunch.

ImagineNATIVE commissioned the development of On Screen Protocols and Pathways, a document to guide filmmakers when their work depicts Indigenous community members or subject matter. This document can be accessed through the Creative BC website.
